The ACE District website (acedistrict.ca / quartierdac.ca) is managed by the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) on behalf of the ACE District Secretariat. We take your privacy seriously and want you to understand what information we collect, why we collect it and how we use it.
This policy applies to this website and all services operated through it. It does not apply to the websites or services of ACE District partners, businesses or organizations linked from this site. Those organizations have their own privacy practices.
What we collect and why
Newsletter signup
When you sign up for the ACE District newsletter, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. We use this information to send you ACE District stories, events and updates. Our newsletter is managed through Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
Contact form
When you submit a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject selection and message. We use this information to respond to your inquiry. Contact form submissions are received by the ACE District Secretariat at the Ottawa Art Gallery.
Join the ACE District
When you express interest in joining the ACE District as a business, organization or artist, we collect the information you provide through the intake form. We use this information to follow up on partnership opportunities.
Website analytics
We use Google Analyticss to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are visited, how long people spend on the site and how they found us. This information is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify individual visitors. [If Google Analytics 4: Analytics data is processed by Google. Interactive map (Google Maps and Google Places)

Video (YouTube)
Some pages include videos hosted on YouTube, a Google service. When you visit a page with an embedded video, YouTube receives information about your visit, including your IP address and the page you viewed. Multilingual content (WPML)
This site uses WPML to serve content in English and French. WPML uses cookies to remember your language preference and the last language you viewed. These cookies are functional — they make the bilingual experience work — and do not track you for advertising purposes.

These providers access your information only to perform services on our behalf and are required to protect it.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including secure connections (HTTPS) and access controls on administrative systems. Mailchimp maintains its own security practices, which you can review at mailchimp.com/legal/security.
How long we keep your information
- Newsletter subscribers: We retain your information for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your information is removed from our active mailing list in accordance with Mailchimp’s data retention practices.
- Contact form submissions: We retain messages for 24 months and then delete them.
- Partnership inquiries: We retain this information for the duration of the partnership relationship or inquiry.
- Analytics data: Aggregated analytics data is retained in accordance with [Google Analytics / platform] default settings.
- Cookies: Cookie lifespans vary by provider. Language preference cookies persist until you clear your browser. Analytics and advertising cookies follow the retention periods set by their respective providers.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent for communications (unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time)
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) if you believe your privacy rights have not been respected

Children
This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
